Born on September 26, 1931, in The Bronx, Joan Ford’s life unfolded as a beautiful love story. As a teenager in Astoria, she crossed paths with the love of her life, Edward “Whitey” Ford. The couple married in 1951, embarking on a remarkable journey that spanned 69 years of marriage. Joan and Whitey’s enduring love became the foundation of a family steeped in affection and unity.

Matriarch and Supportive Partner

Joan Ford embraced the role of matriarch with grace and strength. Raising three children, she balanced the demands of family life while steadfastly supporting her husband, Whitey, as he pursued excellence on the pitcher’s mound. Predeceased by her husband, Edward “Whitey” Ford, and children Thomas Ford and Sally Ann Clancy, Joan’s passing is deeply felt by her family. Visitation to celebrate her life is scheduled on Thursday from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Fairchild Funeral Chapel, 1570 Northern Blvd., Manhasset. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday at 11 am at St. Mary’s Church, Manhasset, followed by interment at Locust Valley Cemetery, Locust Valley.
