In a heart-wrenching turn of events, the Hamilton community is grappling with the loss of 33-year-old Spencer Laffin, who was tragically shot and killed outside his workplace on the East Hamilton Mountain. The Incident

Hamilton police identified Spencer Laffin as the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred outside Satellite Tires on 100 Nebo Rd. on a Monday evening. Detective Sergeant Sara Beck revealed that the incident unfolded around 5 p.m. when police received multiple calls reporting the shooting. Tragically, Laffin was found dead outside 70 Nebo Rd., just across from the tire shop where he was employed.

Spencer Laffin leaves behind a grieving family, including his two-year-old son, sister, parents, and grandparents. Detective Sergeant Sara Beck conveyed the sincerest condolences of the Hamilton police service to Spencer’s family during this unimaginably difficult time.

Police Investigation

According to Detective Sergeant Beck, the assailant shot Spencer Laffin after a brief interaction outside his workplace, then pursued him across the road and fired several more shots, ultimately leading to his demise. While the motive for the shooting remains unknown, police believe it was a targeted attack.

Suspect Description

Hamilton police are actively seeking a suspect described as a slim, six-foot-tall Black man, reportedly wearing a blue surgical mask during the incident. Additionally, authorities are on the lookout for a dark-colored four-door SUV, believed to be driven by another suspect.

Community Assistance

To aid the ongoing investigation, police urge drivers and businesses in the commercial area to review their security camera footage between 2:30 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. on the day of the incident. Detective Sergeant Beck mentioned that there is a significant amount of video evidence to analyze, and officers will be present at the crime scene for the next two days.


The tragic death of Spencer Laffin marks the 10th homicide in Hamilton this calendar year, underscoring the urgent need for community cooperation in solving this case.
